10 Steps to Creative Content Ideas

Do you ever find yourself stuck for creative content ideas? I know that feeling all too well. It’s hard to come up with fresh and interesting material all the time, especially when you’re running a business on your own or just don’t have enough people on your team to help you brainstorm. Making creative content can be tough! But it doesn’t have to be so difficult if you plan ahead and manage your schedule appropriately. In this blog post we’ll take a look at 10 ways to never run out of creative content ideas – so even if there is nothing happening in the world, you should still be able to keep your social media channels continually updated.

Take Note

The best way to make sure you never forget a thing especially if you get inspired at a random moment is to jot down your ideas on a notepad and keep it near your computer. When you happen to think of a new idea, make sure to always add it to your list. I usually do this on my phone notes since I have easy and quick access to it. You can also keep a physical journal or diary if that is your thing, it can be more efficient if you are someone who appreciates organization and wants to be on top of their game at all times!

No Idea is a Bad Idea

In my opinion, this is the most common mistake that people make, and I’m one of them. That one idea that you thought of one day and believed to be irrelevant or uninteresting could become the talk of the town the next day, so for this reason if you have an idea, but are in doubt if it is good or not – write it down anyway. You can always decide to delete it later on when you know more about your niche and target audience.

Repurpose Your Creative Content Ideas

Some people take recycling content for granted and don’t give it the time of day, while actually it is a great marketing strategy used by many companies all over the world. You need to take advantage of your viral posts, because after all if it was popular once it will attract the audience again. So don’t forget about the content you’ve already created and don’t be afraid to repurpose some old material into new pieces that are relevant again. Most content can be repurposed to other platforms. This will help you make the most of your time and content.

Switch it Up

Out of content ideas? Easy, delve into another subject! Don’t be scared to spice things up and post about various things, try to cover different topics so you can show your followers you are knowledgeable in many areas. Remember that content that can bring value to your audience is always appreciated.

Content Calendar 101

A content calendar is a must have if you want to stay organized. There are many different types of content calendars, but I prefer to use the calendar on Growapp since I also use them for scheduling my content across multiple social media platforms. There are many options to scheduling out your content and you will even be able to select the best times to post if you analyze your audience and what time they are most active!

Insights Matter

Be sure to check your analytics regularly so you know which posts get the most impressions and engagement. This step can be easily done with our tool and it will save you a lot of time and effort! If you notice that certain topics are getting more views than others, then try to create similar content in the future – or even better if it fits in with other ideas on your list! Create a list of your most engaged posts in order to keep track of what works best with your audience.

Keep an Archive

If you find yourself stuck in a rut or a writer’s block with no great creative content ideas striking you anymore (which is all too likely to happen), then it’s good to keep track of all the topics you’ve already covered in the past. I like to scrouge my old archive for this or even sift back through my Instagram posts from time to time to get inspiration for new ideas! All in all, keeping an organized archive is a great way for all content creators to keep track of what they have already written.

Utilize Content Pillars

This step is very important for branding and creating your story, so while focusing on creative content ideas, create your content pillars which define who you are as a brand and set your name in stone and make sure you maintain them over time. This way, even when you don’t have any new ideas for a while – your audience will still know who you are and what they can expect from your content.

Ask Your Audience

Don’t forget to ask your audience if there are any certain topics they would love to hear more about from you, after all they are the ones who will read it, so their opinion matters greatly! You can ask them directly on social media so you know exactly what they want. This can be done via an Instagram story with a question sticker to allow your audience to plug in the topics they want to hear about. Once you get your answers, you can start prioritizing those topics to the top of your list.

Do Your Research

The trends are moving fast and all the relevant topics are ever changing every day.  For this reason, you need to do your research to stay updated. Look up any holidays or events going on in your area. Anything from sport games to musical concerts or national holidays!  This can help you come up with personalized content that will capture the attention of your audience. If not specific events, then it’s good to keep up with your news agenda so you can post about anything trending at any given moment.
